Team Plans to Drive from England to Mongolia in a Nissan Micra

The Mongolia Rally is an epic 10,000 mile pan-continental road trip that traverses mountain ranges, deserts, and many more barren land types. The trip takes participants from London to the ancient Mongol capital of Ulaanbaatar. There is no set route, and the only rule is that your car must have an engine of 1L or smaller. It's for charity too!

The team that has my attention is called Of Micras and Men. This team plans to drive a Nissan Micra on the 10,000 mile trip. Here is the team's explanation of why they chose the Micra over something lese like an SUV"

Quote:
"You can't have an adventure with a big 4x4; you know before starting that youíll reach the finish. No, what you need to tackle some of the toughest terrain on the planet is something a little more ridiculous. And so it follows that to do the Mongol Rally you need to turn up in something many people might consider to be a little unsuitable. What do they know. "Unsuitable for what?" we say. If you look at your steed and think, "This is the right car for crossing a desert" you've got it badly wrong."
The specific Nissan Micra that will be taking the trip is a "majestic" black K11 Micra complete with tasteful orange and red racing stripes. The team has also put some work into the car giving it new wheels, a sump guard, spotlights and suspension among other things.

You can see more info including how to donate, the complete route the team is taking, and more at their website here: Of Micras & Men - Blog
